the truth about valentine's day~~

Vday was a quiet affair (literally, coz noisy naz was extremely quiet yesterday..think he was tired or something..amazing.). We decided to dine at Bliss Café at Punggol Park and naz made reservations in advance. It was a place which I always jogged passed and kept telling myself I gotta try it sometime. Naz also heard a lot about the café (and he stays in super-western part of Singapore) from his friends.

We reached there at about 7.45pm and it was fairly crowded. Ambience was nice coz they built this alfresco dining area on stilts that overlooks the huge pond (or lake? Still can’t tell the difference.) in the park The waiter directed us to our reserved table and it was not the side nearer to the waters which naz had requested and they said ok. Piss number 1.

Nevermind la. Both of us were too hungry to complain about it also though naz did try (he is Mr complain King) but gave up la, pity the poor waiters.

They only served valentine’s day set dinners @ an oh-so-steep price of $35.90..considering the café is at heartland area. Main course only will be @ an oh-so-steep price of $25.90. Soup of the day is Lobster Bisque Soup which both of us were so looking forward to and it turned out wasn’t that great and we were dreaming of the lobster bisque at Delifrance.

We ordered 1 set that comes with: Soup, Appetizer, Main Course, Dessert and a coffee/tea. And added on just 1 main course and 1 soup and a root-beer ($4?!!!)

We had a few queries about the set dinner and asked the nearest “waiter” around. I could almost see a question-mark over his head and he said he wakaranai and went to ask another waiter before answering us. Question 1. We had a second question and naz asked him again coz he looked the most eng2 and again, in nearest proximity to us. This time, the ? was even larger and blinking somemore. He said he wakaranai and went to ask another waiter. Shit..why am I repeating myself?! Ahhaha..but you get the point. 3rd question and history repeated itself and I wonder why he is even within 200 metres of the café since he zen zen wakaranai.

I took a pasta main course called Seafood parcel. Seafood was wrapped in this tofu skin and is square-shaped just like a parcel. The pasta a ribbon-shaped and tasted quite good. This was the only dish I was impressed with lo.yummy. Naz ordered sirloin steak and he thought it was ok too. The dessert was Mocha De Crème (caffeine.. didn’t dare to eat too much..scared insomnia)…n it was not nice. Our tea wasn’t served after we waited for like half n hour and we decided to ask for the bill which took another half hour.urghz

In all, we only left at 10pm… never ate such a long dinner besides buffet at suki la. 2 and half hours..! Lucky we could entertain ourselves by playing with the tealights (naz tried to be a magician by using his fingers to snap out the fire..err.) and napkins (we killed an ant with the napkin and asked for a new napkin) and observing people around us (saw a couple eating and they were both guys..ok la..maybe they’re just friends).

Nonetheless, efforts are deeply appreciated to make the day a memorable one. I don’t need fancy dinners and am most happy to eat bbq chicken wings with my fingers (yummy) or stingray at Newton or chomp chomp. Craving for hokkien mee nowww~

Sorry ah..long blog… bored at work.
