Managed to get 2 free admission tics from shan for the night safari yesterday. So supposed to meet up with naz at amk to take the bus to our destination. Hah..we were looking for a dinner place when I spotted my fave fried fish beehoon stall at one of the coffeeshops! Original stall was from Maxwell market…so this must be a franchise or something.I tell you, the soup is fantastic…tho not very healthy coz it’s all milk..but who cares. It’s simply sedap. So we had that for dinner..yum. think I’ll go amk more often now.heh
I had always thought that night safari would be like quite ulu and quiet and nobody will be there. But apparently no lor. It was so crowded wit tourists and the whole place was bustling with activities. We had to bring the admission letter to the ticketing place to exchange for tics.
Before we did that, naz pointed out the toilet and asked me if I wanted to use it. I was holding a bottle of water and the admission letter which was folded up into a square. So…….. I passed the water and letter to him coz he say he dun want to go toilet. When I came out, there was some fire spitting performance going on so we just hung out there awhile to watch. After that, we went to the ticketing reception and I put my hand out asking naz for the letter. He looked at me puzzled and said, “the letter not with you meh?” I was like “no!” he doesn’t have a bag with him and he was only carrying the water. He searched his pockets but nothing. He said he thought he passed the letter back to me when I came out of the toilet. No.. I don’t recall at all. I searched my bag but …arimasen ne. shit, I was thinking.. Came all the way here in the middle of night and if we can’t go in! Poor shan gotta write a report if the letter is really lost somewhere.
Naz said he might have thrown it into the dustbin. Kaoz. We went to the suspected bin and pathetically used our hp light to look through the rubbish. After looking through 2 bins, naz added without any help at all that he remembered the gesture of himself flicking the letter into the bin. AHHHHHH! He’s mad. He said he couldn’t have been so blur as to throw the letter away. Ok..we shall see. We tried to re-trace our steps and I suggested going to the place where we saw the performance coz he might have dropped it there. As we approached the spot where we stood previously, we saw a folded piece of paper lying on the ground with a couple of footprints on it. We picked it up as if we had found the winning TOTO ticket and opened it… …naz just narrowly escaped endless nagging from me. We found it!!! Naz scolded a few vulgarities while I let out a shriek and quickly pulled him to the ticketing counter in case he “flicked it into the dustbin” again.
This incident reminded me of becca and me in JC ..when she passed me her vitamin pills in a plastic bag and asked me to hold onto it while she go and buy ice-cream. And I thought it was rubbish and I threw it into the bin. Hahah. She got a shock when I didn’t have the pills but we found it la without much effort.
That was to me the highlight of the trip.
But of coz I have to describe a bit of the safari trip itself…haha.. we started off with the tram ride which we could see shit coz it was so dark. The animals are quite far away and the lights are dimmed so that our presence would be oblivious to the animals. We alighted the tram and took the foot trails to further explore. Most of the animals either were not there or backside facing us. Either that or they’re too dark to be seen properly and we go wondering, etto..is that the cat or is it a log?
The clearest view we got was of the fruit bats. They were so close to us and I thought they looked interesting. They’re larger than what I expected and their wings are huge. Interesting but I was quite scared of them.
Another one we saw were the flying squirrels…yes..they really fly from tree to tree coz we saw them flying…quite kawaii la coz they really look like normal cartoon squirrels eating nuts except they could fly a distance of max covering 5 football fields. Wooah.
Some others we saw were the bush babies which looked like those forest animals dancing in Madagascar.. ha.quite cute.
Ended off the trip with a photo taking session with 3 animals. Since it was so dark in the safari and we were not allowed to use flash photography, we didn’t take any pics at all. We paid like $5 per person and took pics with a tiger-lookalike cat, python and owl.. will upload the pics when I get them!
It was 11pm at the end of the whole thingy.. took a cab ride to the nearest station before we took public transport home.
Conclusion: Unless it’s free, don’t think I’ll pay to go night safari. It’s $25 per admission with train ride. And another package is $30 which includes zoo and night safari. That’s more worth it I guess.
